Language School Fundraiser to Support Building Upgrades

Penobscot Language School in Rockland will hold a French dinner featuring Chef Manuel Mercier on Friday, October 27th at 6 p.m. and wines of Easterly Wine in Belfast. A silent auction of fine wines will be held during dinner and artisan-crafted clocks will be auctioned after the meal. Funds from this event will be used for exterior building improvements. More...

P.A.W.S. hosts Childrens' Story Hours

Camden Public Library hosted a Children’s Story Hour about shelter animals on September 28 for ages 4-5. Amy Hand, the Children’s Librarian, read “Tupelo Rides the Rails” while P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center brought adoptable dog, Brutus, for the kids to meet and learn more about animal adoption. Following the book, the children participated in an animal-themed craft. Historic Women of Maine: Jude Lamb, Historic Storyteller at Camden Public Library

Jude Lamb is a storyteller who delights in portraying historic Maine women. She will be featured at the Camden Public Library as part of Discover History Month, on Sunday, October 15 at 2:00 pm. Her story performance of her fourth-great-grandmother, Eunice Lakeman Hoar, is based on a true family story passed down orally, then recorded in several small publications. She has taken the story to the next level by researching and fleshing out the people and the times, and performing their story while dressed in period clothing. This is part of Jude’s growing series of performances featuring historic Maine women and is told through the eyes of Eunice. More...

Camden National Corporation Announces Board Retirements and Elections

The Board of Directors for Camden National Corporation (NASDAQ: CAC; “Camden National” or the “Company”), elected Lawrence “Larry” J. Sterrs to succeed Karen Stanley as Chair of the Company and Camden National Bank effective September 17, 2017. Stanley, who joined the Board of Directors in 2008 and became Chair in 2010, retired from the Board on September 17, 2017. John Holmes, who has served on the Board since 1988, retired on September 15, 2017, after 29 devoted years. More...

Trekkers 7th Annual Auction, November 4

Trekkers’ 7th Annual Auction will take place on Saturday, November 4 at the Owls Head Transportation Museum. Doors will open at 5 pm. The silent auction bidding will take place from 5-7 pm. The live auction bidding with auctioneer Bruce Gamage begins at 7 pm. Hundreds of items will be up for bid, from gift certificates to local stores to unique travel experiences. There is a $10 admission at the door, which includes beverages, hors d’oeuvres and sweets. Trekkers is an outdoor-based mentoring nonprofit organization based in Thomaston that connects young people with caring adults through the use of expeditionary learning, community service and adventure-based education. They serve more than 240 students (grades 7 – 12) from six communities in the Midcoast. More...
