You’ll exhaust yourself long before you exhaust the possibilities for fun in our area. What to do first? Your best bet is to simply go out and explore. Take a hike or rent a bike (we talk trails on page 116). Charter a fishing boat, or sightsee from aboard a restored vintage train. Check out a kayak or a stand-up paddleboard. Strap on some snowshoes. You can even enjoy an aerial view of the mountains meeting the sea from a biplane or helicopter.
You’ll also see things you didn’t expect. A working cattle farm with a herd of Belted Galloways. Brilliant gardens. A culinary walking tour — tastings en route. Even vineyards. Whatever your passion — birding or swimming, rock climbing or camping — the Camden/Rockland region puts the “great” in great outdoors.
We have plenty of golf courses (both nine- and 18- hole), and athletic fields and fitness facilities of every description — indoors and out. If winter sports are your thing, you can go cross-country or alpine skiing, tobogganing — even glide across a regulation NHLsize skating rink. And when it’s time to simply kick back and relax, you’ll find festivals, fairs, and other celebrations sprinkled across the calendar. So we’ve got you covered. At any time of year, the Camden/ Rockland region is just the right place to have a good time at the right pace.
