Archipelago’s new gallery show, “Our Maine”

Join Archipelago in celebrating the beauty of Maine through the lenses of five fine art photographers with the new gallery show, “Our Maine,” and a special online event, “Coastal Maine Voices: Our Maine,” presented by the Island Institute and Archipelago, on July 8th at 2:00 p.m. featuring a visual tour and conversation with the artists.
The show, "Our Maine," featuring all five artists, is on exhibit at the Archipelago Gallery in Rockland through August 1, 2020 and online through December 31, 2020. More...

Camden Opera House announces August/September re-opening schedule

Rockland Shows Its Pride During Pandemic

Last year, a group of demonstrators gathered outside of Rockland’s courthouse with signs and flags and held what was dubbed by the local paper as the first Pride event in Rockland. What a wonderful thing it was to see a Pride demonstration in our hometown! This year, community members were hoping to see an expansion of this effort with picnics and dances, but then Covid-19 happened.

Not to be deterred, locals decorated their front porches and businesses flew flags to show their support of Rockland’s LGBTQ+ community. More...

Public comments sought on Rockport short-term rentals

The town of Rockport will hold a workshop to receive public comments on residential short-term rentals and whether the town should propose regulations for residential short-term rentals. The workshop takes place Thursday, July 9, at 5:30 p.m. The workshop will be held via Zoom videoconferencing, due to the current pandemic and to accommodate as many people as possible. ​Working with Superette Studio, a 100% woman-owned design firm from Boston, MA Lauren and Greg Soutiea have taken on the massive task of rebranding the “Craignair Inn and Restaurant” to a new and exciting Craignair Inn by the Sea along with the Causeway Restaurant and Clark Bar. A newly remodeled version of the former restaurant which now offers a sit-down bar and walk up window for guests who would prefer to have beverages or snacks outside on the deck or picnic table seated with some of Maine’s best ocean views. UMA Rockland Center offers Jump Start to prepare for college

​The UMA Rockland Center is offering a free seven week 1-credit course called,"Jump Start" from July 13 - August 24 to help prepare students to succeed in college. With a combination of seven 2 hour weekly classes using real time video participation and online learning, those new to college, or considering applying for the fall, will be able to test their computer competency skills, learn note taking, time management, how to manage test anxiety, and explore some career planning tools.
