United Midcoast Charities Convenes Local Board to Distribute EFSP and CARES Funds

United Midcoast Charities is convening the Local Board for the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) to distribute federal funding for emergency food and shelter in Knox County. These funds will be made available through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program. The Emergency Food and Shelter Program began in 1983 with a $50 million federal appropriation and was created by Congress to help meet the needs of hungry and homeless people. More...

Grace Hansen Joins OUT Maine as Youth Health Educator

We are excited to announce that Grace Hansen joined the OUT Maine Team as our Youth Health Educator. Hansen’s work will focus on reducing smoking and vaping among LGBTQ+ youth as part of a new partnership with the Center for Tobacco Independence. LGBTQ+ youth vape and use tobacco at higher rates than other youth -- a critical health disparity. More...

Camden Library Book Sale

The Camden Public Library announces a summer-long book sale in the library’s Rotunda, Monday through Saturday, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. An exciting and varied selection of books, audio books, and “ephemera” in great condition for children and adults will be replenished frequently. Children's and YA books are $2 for hardcover and $1 for paperback. Adult books (unless specially marked) are $3 for hardcover and $2 for paperback.

The Slow Art of Peggy Clark Lumpkins, Camden Library’s August Artist-of-the-Month

On Tuesday, August 18, at 6:00 pm, the Camden Public Library will host its August Artist-of-the-Month, Peggy Clark Lumpkins, for an online presentation about her art. Lumpkins has a passion for what she calls a “slow art” style of oil painting, with vibrant layers of transparent color. The program will be held via the Zoom platform. Camden National Bank now accepting nominations for 2020 Leaders & Luminaries Awards

Camden National Bank announced that it is now accepting nominations for the 2020 Leaders & Luminaries Awards, a program which started in 2011 to celebrate the importance and impact of effective nonprofit board service. Between now and September 14, the bank is seeking nominations for passionate board directors who have been invaluable to the short- and long-term sustainability of their organizations.
