Coastal Chaos Roller Derby Tournament is April 26-28 at MRC

Rockland’s own Rock Coast Rollers roller derby league are proud to host the 5th annual Coastal Chaos roller derby tournament on April 26th, 27th, and 28th at the Midcoast Recreation Center in Rockport. This Women's Flat Track Derby Association-recognized tournament is the only one of its kind in the state of Maine.

We are thrilled to host 8 teams from the Northeastern United States and Canada as they compete for the Lighthouse Trophy. Tickets will be sold at the door for $10 per day, with free admission for kids ages 12 and under. This year the Rock Coast Rollers will be donating a portion of the proceeds to Belmont Fire and Rescue and New Hope for Women. More...

Annual TLC Day in the Amphitheatre - April 20

Dave Jackson (pictured) will lead the annual TLC Day in the Amphitheatre and Harbor Park on Saturday, April 20, at 9:00 am, in preparation for Earth Day 2019. “Volunteers are needed!” says Jackson, director of the library’s parks. “Bring rakes and other hand tools, and a good pair of work gloves, and be prepared to pitch in. United Midcoast Charities offers Track Your Impact data workshop

West Bay Rotary eWaste+ Event is April 20th

West Bay Rotary's annual eWaste+ collection event fundraiser will be Saturday, April 20th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, in the parking lot of the old Rockport Elementary School at the corner of Route 1 and Route 90. They will once again be accepting electronic waste, providing secure document shredding with an onsite shredding truck (sponsored by First National Bank), and offering prescription drug disposal with the help of local police. Coastal Opportunities will also be collecting gently used clothing for their upcoming Cash for Clothes Sale during the event. Although there is no cost to participate, this is an important fundraiser for West Bay Rotary and your contributions are their only source of income for this event. Midcoast Interact Couples with One Less Worry

Students from the Midcoast Interact Club recently assisted One Less Worry, a nonprofit that provides pads, tampons and essential grooming products to Knox County residents in need. During a one-hour “packing party,” students prepared enough items for one month of deliveries to area food pantries and schools and donated $200 dollars for future purchases. Director Sharon Hobson notes that over 70,000 pads and tampons have been distributed to twenty locations this year alone. More...
