Rock City Coffee Transitions into Employee Owned Cooperative

Today, March 6, 2018, Rock City Cafe and Rock City Coffee Roasters, a staple of the community since 1992, have transitioned from a single owner corporation to an employee owned cooperative. Susanne Ward, with the guidance of Rob Brown and Marcel Gagne for Cooperative Development Institute, has sold her business to Rock City Employee Cooperative which currently includes 17 out of the 30 total employees. The day-to-day operation of the business will remain the same, and Susanne Ward will be staying on as general manager for another year before her retirement. Rockland Maine Street, Inc. is hosting a ribbon cutting on Thursday, March 15th, at 2pm in front of Rock City Cafe. More...

Georges River Land Trust hosts Sacred Art Tour in Cushing

For the first time ever, the Sacred Art Tour from Mundgod, India, will be traveling to Maine to create an intricate sand mandala while sharing ancient Tibetan traditions and culture. Loretta Krupinski is a maritime painter living in South Thomaston who will be speaking at the Camden Public Library on Sunday, March 18 at 2:00 pm. Her focus is preserving Maine Maritime History mostly along the Mid-Coast area. Working from old black and white photographs is challenging but the fun part is bringing the painting to life with oils in color. Camden National Bank Donates Over $7,500 to Maine High Schools in Basketball State Championships

During the excitement of the Maine State Basketball Championships, Camden National Bank announced they would be supporting the boys and girls teams within its footprint who made it into the 2018 championship games. The donations were dedicated to making game tickets or bus transportation free for students so that they could cheer on their teams. Jill and Ted Hugger, owners of the Cod Cove Inn in Edgecomb, completed the purchase of the 37-room Cedar Crest Inn from Bill Hahn and Stephen Liberty on February 27th.
