A program of solo and duo repertoire featuring many of the startlingly talented instrumentalists appearing at the festival this year. The program is anchored by the astonishing artistry of pianist, Pedja Muzijevic, hailed by critics as a ‘thinking’ musician with engaging stage presence and a gratifying combination of virtuosity and eloquence. He is joined by Alexi Kenney, a violinist who is building a career that defies categorization, equally at home creating experimental programs and commissioning new works, soloing with major orchestras, and playing chamber music with some of the most esteemed musicians of our time; violinist Johnny Gandelsman, who integrates a wide range of creative sensibilities into a unique style amongst today's violinists; Zlatomir Fung, a cellist who astounds audiences across the globe with his boundless virtuosity and exquisite sensitivity; Australian flutist, Catherine Gregory, who has performed at The Kennedy Center, Alice Tully Hall, the Barbican Centre in London and at the Lincoln Center Festival, and last season, made her recital debut at Carnegie Hall; guitarist JiJi, who’s astonishing playing is solidifying her reputation as THE 21st-century guitarist to watch.
The program includes a solo performance by Pedja on his toy piano, Zlatomir playing Janacek’s Pohadka, and an original Alexi transcription, among many other solos and duos.
The concert includes the World Premiere of Stones by CONRAD TAO, a piece for solo violin commissioned by Bay Chamber as part of Johnny Gandelsman’s This is America project
