Wartime Career of Jonathan Prince Cilley

Civil War historian and blogger Brian Swartz will talk about the early wartime career of Thomaston attorney, Jonathan Prince Cilley, a charter member of the 1st Maine Cavalry Regiment who inspired him to write his book Maine at War Volume 1 : Bladensburg to Sharpsburg. The book draws on multiple wartime sources to tell the story of Maine's 1861-1862 Civil War involvement. Brian is a 27 year veteran journalist with the Bangor Daily News. He plans to write two more Maine at War volumes. Refreshments at 7pm with talk at 7:30pm. This program is free but donations are always welcome.
