Thursday, September 26 –
Event Time: 7:00 - 9:30pm
345 Main St., P.O. Box 433,, Rockland
Join us for a glamorous evening to celebrate the Rockland District Nursing Association's founding in 1929 --- it's our 90th birthday!
1929 cocktail attire is encouraged -- we'll have photo ops on the red carpet and with a Depression Era “glam” car from the Owls Head Transportation Museum, a live jazz ensemble starting at 6:30pm, and a screening of Auntie Mame, the high spirited film classic set in the roaring 20's!
Patrick Dennis (Jan Handzlik), orphaned in 1928 when his father unexpectedly dies, is placed in the care of Mame Dennis (Rosalind Russell), his father's sister in Manhattan. Mame is a flamboyant, exuberant woman, who hosts frequent parties with eclectic, bohemian guests. Patrick is quickly introduced to his aunt's free-spirited lifestyle and her motto: "Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death!"
However, Patrick's father has designated an executor to his will to protect the boy from absorbing too much of Mame's rather unconventional perspective, and Patrick is soon sent off to a nearby prep school. Patrick and Mame become devoted to each other in spite of this restriction, and together journey through Patrick's childhood and the great depression, amidst some zaney adventures.
Directed by Morton DaCosta, and starring Rosalind Russell, Forrest Tucker, Coral Browne.

ROCKLAND DISTRICT NURSING ASSOCIATION
Community Nursing is in R D N A
In 2019, RDNA is celebrating 90 years of community nursing in the Rockland area. This milestone represents the enduring commitment of this region, across generations, to a healthy community for all. Today, 60% of RDNA’s operating budget is covered through donations, allowing fees to remain affordable and services accessible. RDNA receives no federal/state/insurance reimbursement. One of three remaining district nursing agencies in the state of Maine, RDNA nurses regularly visit close to 200 predominantly elderly residents living independently in South Thomaston, Owls Head, Cushing, St. George, Warren, Union, Thomaston and Rockland. These services help residents stay safely in their homes, and engaged in our community. Only through this local generosity has RDNA continuously been able to focus on seeing neighbors who otherwise may not have access to this nursing care. Visit our website rocklanddistrictnursing.org for more information.
Donation proceeds will go to the RDNA due to the very generous support of this screening’s sponsors:
