Community Maple Sugaring Program

Friday, March 1 – Friday, March 29, 2019

Event Time:

Aldermere Farm
70 Russell Avenue, Rockport

Cabin fever setting in? Looking for a sweet pick-me-up? During the month of March, Maine Coast Heritage Trust (MCHT) invites all ages to try out making maple syrup from scratch (i.e. sap) at Aldermere Farm, 70 Russell Ave in Rockport. Individuals may schedule times to join MCHT's Erickson Farm Manager, Aaron Englander, in the sugaring process – identifying and tapping sugar maples, hauling buckets of sap, tending the evaporator, and tasting the delicious final product. Thanks to the generosity of Rockport Steel, the evaporator in Aldermere Farm’s sugar shack is sporting a new steel hood! MCHT’s Community Maple Sugaring Program is geared to individuals interested in the hands-on experience of making their own bottle of syrup from start to finish. All levels of experience are welcome. This program is free and open to the public. Sap flow is weather dependent. Early registration is recommended. To schedule times to participate, email or call 207-236-2739.
