The Toomai String Quintet is an ensemble devoted to playing a variety of musical styles from around the world, creating its own string arrangements, and commissioning new works. Their Screen Door performance will feature several pieces from their recent album, Cuerdas Cubanas, paying homage to the great artistic lineage of Cuban composers Ernesto Lecuona and Israel "Cachao" Lopez. The concert will also include new and original arrangements for string quintet of music by Brazilian composers Heitor Villa Lobos and Lea Freire.
