Humorist Tim Sample Concert

Saturday, March 23 –

Event Time: 7:00pm

Camden Opera House
29 Elm St. P.O. Box 1207,, Camden

Legendary Maine Humorist Tim Sample will return to The Camden Opera House on Saturday, March, 23rd to present an evening of his trademark Maine humor. The show begins at 7 pm sharp and proceeds from the event will benefit Bartlett Woods Retirement Community. Widely recognized as Maine’s foremost native humorist, Tim has brought his original Maine storytelling to a wide national audience. Sample’s books, videos and CD’s of “Down East” humor (including several on the Bert and I label) have sold over one million copies. For eleven years (1993-2004) Tim’s Postcards from Maine essays were broadcast to a national audience of several million viewers on the Emmy Award winning TV CBS News Sunday Morning. In 2015 Tim’s narration of the original Stephen King story Drunken Fireworks became the number one audio download on iTunes worldwide and the number one bestselling audiobook CD on Amazon.com. Tim’s first Maine Humor LP was released in1979 and although has patented Maine-centric humor has certainly evolved over the intervening four decades one central element has not changed. “Folks keep asking me,” says Sample, “whether my onstage material is still appropriate for all audiences – children, families and so forth. My answer has always been… “Yes, absolutely! Frankly I’ve just never understood the appeal, or even the point, of ‘comedians’ using really raw, profane and offensive language on stage. Honestly, why would anyone do that? When I started out nobody would have considered it! And since I’ve always managed to generate plenty of laughs without resorting to that sort of material why would I change now.” Bartlett Woods Retirement Community a 501(c) 3 is hosting this concert as a fundraiser for their 2019 Capital campaign. This year’s endowment will go to the development of a solarium which will be a mixed use facility. The Solarium will host gardens, a reading room and serve as an intimate gathering place for family and friends. “Our goal is to enhance the quality of life of our residents and offer a more diverse, therapeutic and experiential living experience” says Mary Eads, Executive Director TICKETS: $18.00 in advance • $22.00 at-the-door Purchase tickets at: Bartlett Woods Retirement Community • 20 Bartlett Dr., Rockland Camden Opera House • 29 Elm St, Camden BUY tickets ONLINE at: www.camdenoperahouse.com
