Sōnarts: A Collaborative Camp for Musicians and Artists

This summer, MCMA and the Center for Maine Contemporary Art (CMCA) are combining to create a unique two-week summer camp experience. Student artists and musicians will collaborate to create an interactive, performance based art piece. This multimedia work will be in reference to the CMCA gallery installation, Will O’ the Wisp, by artists Joy Feasley and Paul Swenbeck. Students will work with teaching artists to create an interactive element, using visual and audio narratives. The final product will include a performance element and will be open to the public as is safely allowed. Open equally to musicians (any instrument) and artists. Age: 13-18, or by instructor permission Time: 9 am to 2 pm, Monday through Friday, August 9-13, 16-20 (two weeks) Experience Required: Students should come with open minds, looking to collaborate equally with everyone present to create a truly unique and original showcase. Cost: $600
