Winter School Vacation Week in the Camden-Rockland Region: February 18-24, 2019

Whether you’re looking for an indoor activity or ways to get out there to enjoy winter in all its glory, this list will keep you and the kids busy during School Vacation Week.

INDOOR ACTIVITIES

Bixby & Co., 1 Sea Street Place, Rockland. (207) 691-1778. Organic bean to bar chocolate; tastings and presentation. Open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 AM – 4:30 PM (Thursday til 5:30 PM)

Center for Maine Contemporary Art, 21 Winter Street, Rockland. (207) 701-5005. Art Lab, Monday-Thursday, 2 – 4 PM. All ages. Free of charge!

Coastal Children’s Museum, 75 Mechanic Street, Rockland. (207) 596-0300. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Special craft activity from 11 AM to 12 PM on Wednesday and Thursday.

Farnsworth Art Museum, 16 Museum Street, Rockland. (207) 596-6457. Art Camp for children ages 8 to 12, “Welcome to the Atelier!”, a week of diverse art exploration. Call for more information and to register.

Flagship Cinema, 9 Moody Drive, Thomaston. (207) 594-2100. Twelve different movies showing!

Learn to Skate Clinics, M-Th, 10:10 – 11 AM - $25 full package or $10 drop-in 

Stick & Puck, M 2:10 – 4:10 PM; W 2:10 – 3:50 PM; F 10:40 – 11:50 AM $10 per session

Advanced Hockey Skills, T-TH, 9 – 10 AM - $40 full package or $20 drop-in

Public ice skating M-F, 12 - 2 PM - $5 adults/$4 children/$4 skate rental

Thursday: Youth Soccer Jamboree 9:30-11. Open Gym 1-4pm

Uncle Willy’s Candy Shop, 57 Bay View Street, Camden. (207) 230-2470. You can be a kid in a candy shop when you step inside Uncle Willy’s, featuring two floors of classic candy favorites and homemade chocolate confections.

 

 

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES 

Camden Snow Bowl/Ragged Mountain Recreation Area, 20 Barnestown Road, Camden. (207) 236-3438. Open for skiing every day 8 AM – 4 PM.

Coastal Mountain Land Trust, 101 Mt. Battie Street, Camden.(207) 236-7091. Contact them for a list of hiking and snowshoeing trails in the area.

Georges River Land Trust, 8 North Main Street, Ste. 200, Rockland. (207) 594-5166. Fun Facts for Kids: Animals’ Amazing Adaptations - Tuesday, February 19 at 10 AM at the Searsmont Town Library. Rockland Public Ice Skating Rink at Harbor Park. Open from dawn until 10 pm. Bring your own skates and enjoy the beautiful harbor views! Free of charge.
