Seasonal at Hurricane Island Center for Science and Leadership in Rockland, ME

The Hurricane Island Center for Science and Leadership (HICSL) is seeking to fill the position of Island Captain. Our island-based location means this position is essential to the daily programmatic and staff operations on Hurricane Island. The position requires living and working on Hurricane Island. The primary responsibilities of this position are to serve as an operator of one of several vessels owned by HICSL, including transportation of program participants, staff, supplies, and the maintenance of said vessels in addition to overseeing the waterfront operations on Hurricane Island. When not operating vessels this individual will assist the Island Director and Facilities Manager in the daily operations and maintenance of the island’s facilities and systems that support the programs conducted by HICSL. The Island Captain is additionally expected to be integrated into the day-to-day operations of the island and help HICSL maintain our collaborative and intentional community.
