Clown Duo Pinot and Augustine
Feb. 6th, 6 pm at the Camden Opera House
If you’d like to, or need to be reminded of the pure and simple joy of life, PINOT & AUGUSTINE will do the trick. Their show is pure entertainment, clean and fresh fun...The Most Adorable Show in the World!- DC Metro Theatre Arts
The Camden Public Library and Camden Opera House partner to present this family-friendly show, just in time for Camden Winterfest!
A sure-fire 45-minute, bilingual, crowd-pleaser, PINOT & AUGUSTINE is a classic, family-friendly clown duo inspired by the golden age of Circus. Pinot is the authoritarian clown in fancy clothes and white cone hat, while Augustine is the appealing red-nosed bumbler who punctures his pomposity. Their show bubbles over with physical comedy, virtuosity and musical surprises from the sublime to the ridiculous, from lyrical melodies on a musical saw to pratfalls and slapstick antics. Pinot speaks to Augustine in French, using simple phrases and context clues so that even non-French speaking audiences can easily understand, making their shows a fun and educational experience for audiences of all ages!
These seasoned performers have been seen at the NY Clown Theater festival, the Capital Fringe Festival, Wolf Trap’s Theater-in-the-Woods, and the Kennedy Center’s Look Both Ways Festival, just to name a few.
Come out of the cold for an hour of heartwarming hilarity designed especially for children ages 1-100.
General Admission tickets $5, children under 5 FREE! Available only at the Camden Public Library or at the door the night of the show, cash or check only. Event is generously sponsored by the Elms of Camden.
Mallett Brothers Band
Feb. 7th, 7:30 pm at the Camden Opera House
Maine’s own roots rock masters the Mallett Brothers Band arrives just in time for Toboggan Nationals
Weekend and the Camden Winterfest!
The Mallett Brothers Band is an independent rock and roll / Americana / country band from Maine. And just like all the best things from Maine, they’re unique. With a style that ranges from alt-country to Americana, country, jam and roots rock, theirs is a musical melting pot that's influenced equally by the singer/songwriter tradition as by harder rock, classic country and psychedelic sounds. The band has grown a dedicated fan base across the country since releasing their debut record in 2009, while still calling the state of Maine their home. The band continues its rigorous touring schedule (playing upwards of 150 shows a year across the country!), and its mission of sending genuine, heartfelt and independent music out into the world.
The Mallett Brothers Band has performed at some of the country’s top venues and festivals, including Austin Texas’s famed Continental Club; Alexandria, Virginia’s Birchmere (sharing the stage with Oklahoma red-dirt rockers The Turnpike Troubadors), New Hampshire’s Meadowbrook Pavilion (opening for The Allman Brothers Band, and again opening for Lynyrd Skynyrd); Nashville’s Bluebird; and Little Rock’s The Rev Room, to name a few. Festival appearances include FloydFest (Virginia), Hop Jam (Vermont), Nateva (Maine), The New England Country Music Festival (New Hampshire), Eastbound Throwdown (New York), and many more.
"When we first listen to a band, our brain reflexively logs them under the most fitting genre masthead, waiting for the next time your itch for “noise-core goth rock” needs to be scratched. Rare are the bands that challenge the inexorable classification by playing whatever the hell they want. Take a gamble to overthrow the whole system by listening to New England’s wildly eclectic crew of genre rebels, The Mallett Brothers Band." - Texas Hill Country Explore
Round out Toboggan Nationals weekend or your Camden Winterfest experience with another night of great Maine music presented by the Camden Opera House!
Joined by opener the Oshima Brothers, a Maine-based duo creating dreamy melodies and a harmony-drenched blend of contemporary folk, acoustic pop, and Americana. Raised in a musical family in rural Maine, brothers Sean and Jamie have honed a harmony-rich blend of contemporary folk and acoustic pop. On stage, Sean and Jamie create a surprisingly full sound with dynamic vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, octave bass, loops, and percussion.
