Camden’s Second Saturday Program Features “Family Fun Day” October 14

Fall Family Fun Day is a new event in Downtown Camden, featured as part of the community’s 2nd Saturday program. On Saturday, October 14th, families will enjoy bouncy houses, face painting, exploring fire trucks, music, horse & carriage rides, games, free popcorn, Haunted History tours and even a S'mores Food Truck! All ages are invited to come between the hours of 10am and 2pm to 31 Washington Street (Camden’s Public Safety Building). Activities will be set up in the adjacent parking lots.

Family Fun Day is part of a series of festive monthly themes occurring on the 2nd Saturday of each month. Upcoming 2nd Saturdays, scheduled right into 2018, include:

November 11th – Celebrate Our Veterans

December 9th – Inns & B&Bs open house

January 13th – Focus on Wellness

February 10th (through the whole weekend) – US National Toboggan Championships

March 10th – Dine Local

April 14th –Easter Egg Hunt in Harbor Park

May 12th – Camden Is Blooming

June 9th – Community Outdoor Day

July 14th – Camden Ice Cream Day

August 11th – National “Exercise with your Child Day”

Second Saturdays also feature musicians playing in downtown locations when weather allows.

The team running the local Second Saturday program is a partnership between community volunteers, local businesses and municipal government called Connect Camden. The mission of Connect Camden is To build collaboration utilizing community assets to strengthen and energize Camden’s downtown”. The group focuses on downtown improvements, economic vitality, and communications, with the goal of making Camden a great place to live and work.

Camden’s 2nd Saturday program is also held in conjunction with a “Shop Second Saturday” series run by the Maine Retail Association to encourage residents and visitors to shop local. Any business can join the statewide Second Saturday program to have their location and description featured on the Maine Retail Association’s website: The map on the site helps visitors and residents locate their shop, inn or restaurant.
