Lodging Search Feature on Chamber Website Shows Success

Earlier this year, the Chamber launched a new feature on our website to provide live lodging search of our 62 lodging members in the Camden-Rockland Region. This search feature automatically pulls average rate and availability information from lodging member websites to provide a current look at availability and rates in the region, and the ability to book direct with any of our lodging members. We now have six full months of data available, and the results are exciting!

This lodging search supports and promotes the ‘Book Direct’ movement in lodging, encouraging consumers to book directly on an individual property’s website to avoid the significant fees charged by online booking engines such as Expedia and others. Those who find lodging through the Chamber site are connected directly to our member websites so that the local lodging member realizes 100% of the revenue from the booking.

For the period of May through October this year (the first six months of operation of this service), more than 6,300 individual searches for lodging were conducted through this new service! On average, that’s 36 times PER DAY that a lodging search is happening on the Chamber site! These searches have resulted in more than 5,100 click-throughs to one of our individual lodging member websites during this four month period, meaning that the Chamber is delivering web traffic to one of our 62 lodging members on an average of 28 times PER DAY!

On average, an individual lodging member received a click-through 14 times per month, giving them additional opportunities to complete a lodging sale directly on their website.

We’re excited about the added value this provides to our lodging members, and we are grateful for their partnership in accommodating a dues increase to help the Chamber cover the annual costs for this service. We’re also excited about the ripple effect of this added attention to local lodging, that encourages consumers to stay with us and enjoy all that the Camden-Rockland Region has to offer.
