Beat the winter blues with an exciting new book from the Mid-Winter Book Sale on the first two weekends in February. The books will be on sale at the Blue Door Book Shed adjacent to the “Meadow Parking Lot,” just past the Camden Amphitheatre, Saturday and Sunday, February 1, 2, 8, and 9 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each day. The sale will have books for all ages and tastes, and the tables will be restocked each evening to ensure that there’s a full selection to choose from no matter which day you shop.
The Library has received significant donations of books both new and old over the last several months, and these new donations will be featured in the sale. Volunteers will be stocking the tables with everything from an early 20th century Encyclopedia Britannica to fiction written by authors from Kate Atkinson to Timothy Zahn. There will be a full table of books for children of all ages, as well as a fabulous array of non-fiction sorted across 20 categories, including Biographies, Histories, Cooking, Humor, Pets and Gardening. There will also be a good selection of puzzles, CDs, and DVDs for sale. The February 1 sale will run concurrent with Winterfest 2020, another great reason to visit Camden!
The book sales, which are held throughout the year, generate significant income for the Camden Public Library; during the most recent fiscal year they contributed more than $30,000 to the Library’s operating budget. This could not be done without support from the community both through donating books to the library to be sold, and by buying books, CDs and DVDs at the sales.
The Camden Public Library is happy to accept donations of nice, well cared for books of any age and for any age (though please no books with mold or mildew) at the Book Shed most Tuesdays between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm throughout the year. Call the library for more information 207-236-3440.
